From the start of the game, both teams were hitting and crash hard. An early penalty from within the Tridents 22m line, put them in line for a penalty kick. Kick good. Minutes later, Tridents pinned Jacksonville in the corner again and go the penalty again for reaching in the ruck. Another penalty kick good. Not long after, Jacksonville started putting together a solid drive where center Brian Hutchison broke the line and passed to wing Sean Balaban for the try. Conversion no good. Tridents would come right back and put in a scoring drive of their own getting a try in the right corner. Conversion good. Jacksonville would so their resilience, and before the halftime hooter, put together a scoring drive where fly-half Randy Dewey threw a skip pass to Balaban again who would tip-toe the sideline and run in for the try. Conversion no good. Halftime score 10-13 Tridents.
Halftime started with some light rain. From the start of the second half, the Tridents would show off their fitness as they put in a try off a lineout maul, pushing Jacksonville back about 15m. Conversion good. Jacksonville would put together some solid drives, but they would constantly be blown up as the Tridents were quick to get their hands in the ruck to steal possession. It would be the story the rest of the way. Miami would go on to score 3 more tries and converted all 3. Jacksonville let the game get away from them, but were proud of the effort put in by the team.
