Jacksonville RFC has begun their 2014-2015 campaign. This year’s roster is filled with strong veterans and talented new players, which is sure to make for the most competitive team Jacksonville has seen in years. JAX RFC has played two exhibition games so far against Tallahassee RFC in Tally, and against Gainsville RFC at home. Both games featured a JAX roster mixed with new players and different positions to prepare for the Florida Matrix Season, yet JAX RFC was still able to come out on top in both games, leading to a 2-0 record to start the year.
Fitness and conditioning have been heavily stressed in the preseason, and with the help of our coach Ricky Brown, Jacksonville was able to get a professional workout session with SET Performance, a state-of-the-art training facility in Jacksonville to build on this. SET Performance is focused on improving strength, endurance and athletic ability for all types of athletes, from children and the weekend warriors to NFL and MLB stars. Their trainers certainly put the team to the test and pushed to the limit, which is exactly what we are looking for. We enjoyed our time there and look forward to working with them in the future. Jacksonville RFC also was approached by The Florida Times-Union and Jacksonville.com to do an article about the sport of Rugby and our upcoming season. Coach Ricky Brown and player Tristan Morhous were featured interviewee’s, and the publication included some great photography during one of our practice sessions. We are privileged to get an opportunity to be featured in the paper and have our team exposed to the city of Jacksonville. Our goal for the season is to be the most disciplined and fit team in Florida. With the right mind set and hard work, we will be able to achieve this and have a strong season. Next game is on October 11th against Daytona Beach at Daytona. To all fans, thank you for your support and we hope to see out at our games. JAX RFC. ALL IN.
